The Toronto Varsity Blues secured the bronze medal at the 2025 Miller Waste U SPORTS Women's Hockey Championship with a 3-1 victory over the Concordia Stingers on Sunday, avenging last year's gold-medal game defeat.
Sophie Grawbarger opened the scoring for Toronto (29-9-1) on a power play at 15:31 of the first period, finishing a setup from Kaitlyn McKnight and Emma Elders. The lead held until the second, when Jessymaude Drapeau tied the game for Concordia (29-6-0) at 11:43.
Toronto pulled ahead for good at 6:21 of the third when Abby Whitworth netted the game-winner, assisted by Aili McKeown and Emma Potter. Scout Watkins Southward sealed the victory with an empty-net goal at 18:21.
Lyla McKinnon and Sarah-Lynn Gauthier split goaltending duties for Toronto, combining for 18 saves. Concordia's Arianne Leblanc stopped 24 shots in the loss.
Toronto's special teams played a key role, going 1-for-6 on the power play while killing off both Concordia power plays. The Varsity Blues also blocked 14 shots in a strong defensive effort.
